Robert Hinds is in his 28th year of teaching and his 3rd year at Amarillo High School. He serves as the Director of Bands and oversees the band programs for the Amarillo High School and earned a Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Arts degree in Conducting from West Texas A&M University. While at WTAMU, he studied trumpet with David Ritter and conducting with Dr. Gary Garner. Prior to teaching at Amarillo, Mr. Hinds taught at Canyon ISD, Ector County ISD (Odessa) and Hereford ISD. Mr. Hinds enjoys staying busy as a freelance trumpet player in town and also does some judging and clinics throughout the year. He is married to Diane, a music therapist at Park Place Central, and both his daughters Emily and Erin are AHS graduates and were members of the Sandie Band.
Dakota Lancaster is an Associate Director of Bands at Amarillo High School. Prior to that, he spent time as an assistant director of Panhandle High School and was with Pampa High School. He is a graduate of West Texas A&M University holding a Bachelors in Music Education and Music Composition. Mr. Lancaster is a low brass specialist and also has extensive experience in the marching arts having marched with DCI groups Crossmen and the world champion Blue Devils. He and his wife, Meghan are excited to welcome their first child this October.
